Desert flowers
Sunset on a jagged mountain in a remote area of the Wadi Rum desert. There is very little vegetation except for some dry bushes clinging to the dunes, and the rare plants that manage to survive often hide where there is the most shade and humidity – that is, between large rocks or at the foot of cliffs. The sea squill is thus one of the rare plants offering the possibility of creating color contrast in these compositions. They were growing in the shade of a rock. Although their flower stems had already withered, they still perfectly framed the mountain, while the blue-green leaves of these endemic plants stood out well against the red sand, creating a subtle dialogue between life and the minerality of the desert.
