Floating peaks
Perfect conditions in the Mont-Blanc massif seen from near the Chésérys Lake, in the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve. After hiking through clouds and arriving late, the peaks remained hidden. Having given up, I had started setting up my bivouac. Just minutes before sunset, the clouds dissipated rapidly. The majestic peaks of the Drus and the Aiguille du Chardonnet appeared to float above the sea of clouds. I quickly composed this image near the camp, where Alpine purple adenostyles caught my eye and the stream created a perfect middle ground, forming a leading line pointing towards the mountains.
