Gdansk's harbour on a freezing night
Freezing night over the old harbour of Gdansk, in Poland. Having rarely stayed in northern or eastern countries during winter, I was surprised by the cold's intensity – partly caused by the high air humidity. The total absence of wind was, however, welcome – allowing buildings to reflect in the calm waters of the Motlawa River. The medieval crane (first building on the right) and the mansion with the small tower (left center) were particularly photogenic.
