Golden light over the Bardenas
There were very few foreground options in the harsh, wind-sculpted Bardenas Reales badlands in winter. The few drought-resistant plants that grow in or near the clay were dead, and the landscape is totally devoid of trees. I therefore chose to focus on the clay itself in most of the compositions, capturing both its intricate texture up close and the interesting shapes it forms in some areas. After scrambling up and down some steep and slippery slopes at the foot of the Rallon peak, I found this small pocket of clay which reminded me of meringue.
