Mythical cypresses
One of the most beautiful cypress trees I found in the heights of the Lefka Ori (White Mountains) in western Crete, Greece. Twisted, gnarled, and growing in all directions, these ancient trees survive at the tree line. Exposed to strong winds and extreme weather conditions, forced into very slow growth, they testify to life's resilience in such a hostile environment. The summit of these mountains indeed resembles a mineral desert.
