The conductor
One of the images from the series I captured in the ancestral Fanal forest, located on a high plateau at 1150m overlooking the northern coast of Madeira island. It is surely the most iconic tree of this laurel forest. It resembles at times an Ent, at other times a person passionately declaring something while stretching out their arm… It personally reminded me of an orchestra conductor directing a symphony. I chose here to simplify the composition by clearly isolating the tree from the small grove to its left – making it seem like it has musicians to conduct.
