Under the arch
One of the most famous arches in the Wadi Rum desert, a geological gem of Jordan, often visited during 4X4 excursions with numerous tracks visible in the sand at the bottom of the valley. Most tourists take photos at the top, but it was the natural frame it formed underneath that motivated me to take this spectacular panoramic shot composed of three vertical images. The light on the background cliffs arrived at just the right moment following a rather cloudy afternoon, revealing the ochre and red nuances of the sandstone. The ground rock was beautifully textured in this location, offering an interesting contrast with the surrounding rock formations.
